When I started writing my graduate thesis on works of Pärt in June of 1995, there was no useful information available on the world wide web that I could find. Not much more useful were the few reference books, magazines and periodicals that mentioned Pärt. Much of my biographical information was culled from CD liner notes and all the in-depth analysis and study of the music was done first hand. Even the term "tintinnabulation" -- which is the word that Pärt uses to describe his style and which many people have mentioned in their writings on Pärt -- was not clearly defined by anyone. Because of my frustration in searching for valuable information, I decided to establish this presence so that others would be able to more easily research the music of this great Estonian composer. The site is in its infancy but I am hopeful that it will continue to grow in order to become a recognized source of information for anyone in the world to access.
